The general objective of the renovation is the conservative maintenance as a result of which the original aesthetic appearance of the church will be preserved while keeping the maximal quantity of the valuable historic material dating from various historic periods. REGOTHICISATION

“Regothicisation” in relation to the interior of the Opole cathedral should be understood as the exposition of the original walls and brick bonds which are the characteristic feature of the aesthetics of Silesian cathedrals. Renowacja Kaplicy św. Jana Nepomucena

Rozwój współpracy transgranicznej przy odnowie katedry w Ostrawie i w Opolu

Jan Nepomucen (ur. ok. 1350 w Pomuku, obecnie Nepomuk, zm. 20 marca 1393 w Pradze) – prezbiter, spowiednik Zofii Bawarskiej, męczennik i święty Kościoła katolickiego. Około 1380 przyjął święcenia kapłańskie i został kanonikiem przy katedrze św. Wita, Wacława i Wojciecha w Hradczanach. W związku z zatargiem między królem Czech Wacławem IV
a arcybiskupem, Jan Nepomucen popadł w niełaskę władcy i w 1393 został uwięziony. Następnie zrzucono go z mostu Karola do rzeki Wełtawy. Jan Nepomucen został beatyfikowany
